RSVP Papers & Gifts

Messenger Post Newspapers, February 5, 2004

Attention all brides, hostesses, party throwers and imaginative gift givers!  Here's the shop you'll visit again and again.  It's RSVP at 1664 Monroe Avenue, near 12 Corners, Brighton in Rochester, New York - offering a fabulous selection of stationery papers and stocks, new unique gift items, prices to meet every budget, and caring customer service.

"My favorite and frequent customer complaint is "You've got too much to choose from!'" said owner Marcia Gabrilove, who keeps things fresh and plentiful on both sides of her business - the personalized stationery/invitations and the colorful on-display gifts, cards and table top items.  "I try to carry things that are a little different, that you don't see everywhere," she said.

Papers are, of course, RSVP's specialty, and she stays on top of the trends.  The selection of imprintables, the papers with decorative borders and designs made for computer printing, seem to be multiplying before her eyes.  "People today are more comfortable printing their own pieces," said Gabrilove, "and with the money they save in printing, they feel they can look for a really fabulous paper."

RSVP can provide it - imprintables and others- including the latest in pearlized papers, vellums, doo-dads and other add-ons.  "I think we probably have the best and largest selection in town," said Gabrilove, "and something in every price range.  It's important to me that my customers feel comfortable within their budget."

Trends in weddings  - Save the Dates!  Brides, grooms and their families are sending a Save the Date announcement or packet.  The packet includes hotel suggestions, weekend activities, directions, nearby places to visit, restaurants, shopping etc.  Whether your wedding is in your hometown or is a "destination wedding, " (a wedding in a resort town, sometimes where neither family is from) you'll want to let everyone know the details. With all the planning that goes into a wedding, couples want to give their guests plenty of time and information so everyone will be there for their special day.

Wedding invitation trends include the use of mixed fonts and the minimalist look with lots of white space and small type.  Exciting color alternatives to white and ivory and letterpress, a printing technique on soft papers, are seeing a huge comeback.  Many of the companies are adding this style of printing to their offerings.  But the traditional invitation is still very popular, per Gabrilove.  "Traditional is always there," she said.  "You'll love it 20 years from now."

And what about a gift for the person who has everything?  Try monogrammed notecubes or stationery, hand bound photo albums, funky sleepshirts or a great picture frame.  'Girlfriend' and friendship gifts, candles, and items with fun sayings are also popular today, as well as wine and cheese accessories, especially here in our winery-rich Finger Lakes.

And what is new at RSVP. . .  online shopping at www.shoprsvp.com.  Shop for gifts and some of our papers, in the comfort of your own home, 24/7.

For our local customers, you can shop online and have it ready for pickup from the store - with no added shipping costs.  An exciting new addition for RSVP.

But, since browsing is still half the fun, stop by RSVP yourself and enjoy having too much to choose from!
