CALLIGRAPHYCalligraphy can add interest and elegance to your invitations, announcements and personal stationery. It is a traditional art you can apply yourself. Our tips can help you create beautiful lettering of which you will be proud.
- Be sure to use waterproof ink or apply a fixative to prevent smearing.
- When addressing your own envelopes be sure to use the same style as or a complimentary style to the invitations.
- Work on a surface that tilts towards you and be sure your elbow is fully supported.
- Outline your work on the primary paper, then use a practice tracing paper over the outline to test your style and positioning.
- If you're doing announcements or invitations, spend time with your printer to understand the production process. This will save time and money - and avoid frustration.
- The three most important rules for successful hand lettering: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
